The Sunday Salon (TSS: 12/5)

Life: We have SNOW!  We usually do not see snow this early and I am so excited!  More and more Christmas lights are going up in the neighbourhoods and we are having great fun getting into the Christmas spirit.  My gifts should have been received by my partners for the Book-lovers Secret Santa Swap and the Book Blogger Holiday Swap.    I need to shop for them both as well as my family.

Family Update: We are all ready for the holidays.  The house is decorated inside and out and looks quite festive.  One month out of the year I listen to the radio when it plays Christmas music 24/7.   Christmas is my favourite holiday.   The gifts are purchased and either wrapped or on the way and all we have left to do is enjoy this wonderous season and purchase stocking stuffers.   The winter dance is Saturday and I know at least one of my three sons is attending.

Saturday Night: We completed our Christmas shopping and enjoyed the sales and had a lovely low stress  shopping experience.   We do buy a lot of gifts on-line, yet some had to be purchased in stores.  We found everyone to be rather friendly.  We finished up with a drive around looking at Christmas lights then back home to watch Christmas themed movies.

Read and Reviewed: Somehow I managed to read and review 11 books which surprises me as the week was so very busy, although the social calender does not really get moving until this coming week.  I read some absolutely fabulous books, take a look, there are many that would be lovely gifts.

If you do not want to wait until Monday to see the entire list for the week, all my reviews are up and as usual I love comments.

Today I will be reading: The Green Age of Asher Witherow by M. Allen Cunningham .  Although I may just take the day off and play in the snow with the guys.

Happy Reading and please feel free to leave comments or suggestions.

Black Friday-Aloha Friday

Seeing how it is Friday, today’s question is going to require as little brain power as possible.

The question for today: Today is Black Friday. Do you plan to or have you already been out shopping today?

I am not going anywhere today! I am going to be too busy relaxing and reading during the Thankfully Reading Weekend.

Visit An Island Life for more fun Aloha Fridays.

Every summer, a week or two before school resumes, my in-laws drive out here for a visit. This happens to be the weekend of their visit. The boys are enjoying this time they have with their grandparents. Even my husband agreed to go shopping with his parents, much to their delight and my surprise. My husband likes to shop even less than me!
The shopping trip yielded the boys with some nice new clothing for the school year, a new pair of shoes for my husband and a surprise for me! My husband decided I needed a watch and bought me a rather lovely asymmetrical silver watch that is fantastic. Sorry the camera battery is dead, the best I can do is give a link: Fossil Watch . I think my husband made an excellent choice.
I do not know what is planned for the rest of their visit. Hopefully some relaxing, maybe a card game or two and a movie. The weather here has been lovely, so it is possible some last minute outdoor work will get completed before everyone heads back home, to work, and school.

Cancel My Order

I was planning to post some updates of Sheldon, our baby Bearded Dragon. He/she has really grown these past few weeks. I took some photos of him/her and the camera batteries died, of course. This was not going to deter me from showing off the photos of our Beardie. That was until I received an email regarding a recent order I placed for clothing, which made me decide to hold off posting about Sheldon and instead share some of my pet peeves.

First off, anyone who has read my blog for any length of time knows I loathe clothing shopping. It is one of the most unenjoyable things in my life. I avoid clothing shopping, until necessary. I try to order on-line as much as possible as Mall shopping makes my skin crawl.

Back to the email I received this morning.

  • The order I placed is not in stock. Knowing this fact in advance would have saved me days of debating whether or not this item was in my budget.
  • They offered to send me the next size up. Now if the next size up was the size I needed/could wear I really would have ordered that size.
  • They also proceeded to share with me two other items I may like instead, in a size small. Why? I want the style I ordered.
  • Then they proceeded to tell me they would hold off shipping until they heard from me. Hold off what? The item I ordered is not in stock. What were they planning to ship?
  • While I appreciate their effort, they never did mention if they were planning to be getting that size back in stock. Which led to me sending a questioning email back to the company.
  • They never gave me my options for this style and size. Will they be receiving more of this style in a size small? I am truly hoping they are planning to get more in as I adore the style. Otherwise, I must cancel the order and begin again elsewhere.

So basically the email suggested I was uncertain of my sizing and style choice and should rethink the order. No, I ordered the size that would fit me and the style I liked. Why do these things need to be made more difficult then necessary? A simple “out of stock” next to the size small would have sufficed. Or letting me know in the email whether a size small in the style I ordered will become available in the future. Instead, it looks as though I will be playing email tag this morning, which is a waste of my time and (I would think) the company’s time.

Update: The company rep emailed me back, (at least they are quick!) telling me they shall not be receiving anymore in and then continued to tell me her favourite pair and would I like those? No. Cancel my order.
