It’s Monday What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday What Are you Reading is the perfect way for me to begin my week and allows me to focus on what needs to be read and to see what I have or have not accomplished the previous week. I also enjoy discovering new books by visiting other participants blogs.

Life: Happy 4th of July to all my American readers!  I am still getting used to my new home and the workings of WordPress.  So far, so good.  I hope everyone was notified of the change or updated their readers.  The weather has been rather unpleasant and I am looking forward to the festivities on Monday, well to be honest, mainly the funnel-cakes.

Family Update: The summer is rapidly passing by.  All of my children are now driving, time just keeps speeding up.  Our dear friend has not been doing well this week but refused to see a doctor or go to hospital, I have been keeping an eye on him while the boys fish.  Needless to say I accomplished far less reading than I would have liked, but sometimes one must set aside ones plans.  Life is precious and is gone all too soon.

Saturday Night: Everyone was home!  We ordered pizza rented movies and had a wonderful time just being silly.

Read and Reviewed: This week I spent a lot of time with the boys and our sick friend.  My reading was less than I had hoped.  I did manage to read and review 10 books.  Unfortunately there were a few I was unable to get to.   I do hope you check out my reviews, some of the best books I have read this year I had the privilege to read last week. I shall, as usual, list all the reviews I read this past week on Monday with links. Do not want to wait until Monday? They are all up and as usual I love comments.

So what will I be reading? I am reading the book I was planing to read last Sunday, The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory.

Happy Reading and please feel free to leave comments or suggestions.

Teaser Tuesdays – Unspeakable

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here is mine:

Life: The biggest news would be that I now have a lovely new home.  I am new to WP so I may struggle a bit here and there, so please be patient.  My designer did a fantastic job with the layout and the transfer.  I hope my readers will come to feel at home here as well.

Family Update: My son visited another collage and that one is definitely in his top 3, which was nice to learn as we liked it.  The twins have been fishing a lot, in between the horrific storms and heat advisories we have had the entire month of June.  I stay indoors, I never liked the heat and humidity and after my last stroke, my head can no longer tolerate heat.

Saturday Night: Quite literally the same as last week, just a different movie.  When our one son returned from work we began our at home movie night with popcorn and my favourite movie treat, Good ‘N Plenty. We had a lovely time, even if we did not start the movie until later in the evening, it allowed me to get more reading in.

Read and Reviewed: This week I spent the majority of the week either trying to be of assistance to my WP designer  or in rather horrific pain, which left me reading far less than I had hoped.  I do not have a word count for this past week.  I did read and review 11 books and oh my what a week of superb books it was!  I do hope you check out my reviews, some of the best books I have read this year I had the privilege to read last week. I shall, as usual, list all the reviews I read this past week on Monday with links. Do not want to wait until Monday? They are all up and as usual I love comments.

I want to note here, as I read over these notations, that I do not always speak this way. In fact, I do not believe I ever speak this way, but when notating a case study, this is the narrative voice that of its own accord seems to emerge.”

Life: Blog news update: Rundpinne will be getting not only a new home, but an all new look. Stay tuned for the details. My Twitter page already shows some of the new look, feel and colours to my new blog. I will be posting the new URL to Rundpinne when everything is ready to switch over, my designer thinks it could possibly be Tuesday (fingers crossed). I am very, very excited!

Family Update: Happy Father’s Day to my wonderful husband who is the best father to our sons. Today is his day and we shall make certain he is pampered. As for me, I managed to catch whatever germs the child with the wet productive cough had at the banquet last week. I spent the first part of the week fairly miserable and sleeping a lot. I am feeling better and able to get by with only one nap. My husband is back from his travels and it looks as though more college tours are being planned. We have literally had storms every single afternoon/evening for over a week now with no end in sight, which means perfect reading weather in my air-conditioned house as the temperatures outside are downright miserable.

Saturday Night: At home movie night with popcorn and my favourite movie treat, Good ‘N Plenty. We had a lovely time, even if we did not start the movie until later in the evening, it allowed me to get more reading in.

Read and Reviewed: I was feeling fairly down about only reading 10 books and reviewing 9 of them when I decided to add up the page count. In a week’s time I read 3,781 pages, so now I do not feel quite so lazy. I shall, as usual, list all the reviews I read this past week on Monday with links. Do not want to wait until Monday? They are all up and as usual I love comments.

So what will I be reading? I am currently reading Day For Night by Frederick Reiken.

Life: I cannot believe how busy June has been. My summers are usually hectic but so far life has been moving at a faster clip than usual. I can hardly believe we are almost half way through June! Time is flying by. I am contemplating switching to WP, however I lack the computer knowledge to make this transition on my own, so I would appreciate any and all advise.

Family Update: The family is busy but quite well. We had another banquet to attend, unfortunately this one was uncomfortably hot and about 90 minutes too long. All three teens have busy and naturally completely different schedules making juggling the cars around interesting to say the least. I cannot complain that my life is dull.

Saturday Night: Only one of the three teens was around so we chose to watch a movie rather late, but we had a delightfully good time so it was worth the loss of sleep. Sometimes it is nice to have one on one time with my teens.

Read and Reviewed: It was another slow week for me. This past week I read and reviewed 10 books, wrote 1 guest review and had 1 guest author post. I need to shift my routine around again to accommodate the hectic summer schedule, so far I am not doing so well. I will work on that some today. I shall, as usual, list all the reviews I read this past week on Monday with links. Do not want to wait until Monday? They are all up and as usual I love comments.

So what will I be reading? I am currently reading A Hollow Crown by Helen Hollick. Check back for reviews.

Happy Reading and please feel free to leave comments or suggestions.
