The Sunday Salon (TSS: 6/19/2011)

Life: Summers used to prove to be quite relaxing, but the older I get more busy my summers become.  This past week has shown me quite a lot and I have decided there is enough stress in my life and I need to lessen my stress and my expectations, so I shall be reviewing less books than usual in an effort to decrease my perceived level of stress.

Family Update: My family is doing well and since it is Father’s Day, the day belongs to DH, so I have no idea what is in store.

Saturday Night: We were all exhausted from the week and decided to make it game and movie night with takeaway Chinese food.  The night was fabulous.

Read and Reviewed: This past week I read and reviewed 9 books, most were fabulous, so do take a look.  Next week I am planning to limit my reading to no more than 7 books, check back next week and see if it worked for me.

Today I will be reading: Absolutely nothing.  It is Father’s Day and as I mentioned, this day is devoted solely to him.

Happy Reading and have a wonderful Sunday.

Life: I really cannot complain.  I made it through May and the first week of June with my sanity intact and now I am looking forward to a few uneventful weeks with the boys home from school.  My only complaint is the weather.   I detest the heat and humidity, summer is my least favourite season.

Family Update: All of my guys are out of school for the summer and I celebrated a birthday.  My oldest went to college for orientation, scheduling, photo ID, and all the things associated with attending University.  We purchased a laptop for him and ordered all his text books.  He is almost all set to begin.  Twin 1 has a few weeks off before set building resumes for the fall musical and twin 2 begins cross country training this week.

Saturday Night: Our oldest son returned from college and after buying his books and computer we decided it was time for a much overdue pizza and DVD watching night.  The theme this weeks was Stargate.

Read and Reviewed: This past week I read and reviewed 8 books, which was more than I hoped to be able to get to, so I am pleased.

Today I will be reading: The Silent Girl by Tess Gerritsen (this is my third week at attempting to read this book.)

Happy Reading and have a wonderful Sunday.

Life: Whew!  I made it through May, now to just get through this next week with what is left of my sanity and all will be well, or at least much better.

Family Update: My oldest son graduated from High School over the weekend.  He had several ceremonies before the final ceremony which was on Saturday.  We have out of town company, which is cutting in to my reading time significantly.

Saturday Night: I spent the evening entertaining out of town company.  For those who do not know, I do not like to entertain.

Read and Reviewed: This past week I read 7 books, which was 4 more than I had hoped to be able to read, so it was a great reading week.  This week is not much better than last week in terms of schedules so I hope I can keep up with my reading.

Today I will be reading: The Silent Girl by Tess Gerritsen (sadly I never got to this book in the past two weeks.)

Happy Reading and have a wonderful Sunday.

The Sunday Salon (TSS: 29 May 2011) Memorial Day Weekend Edition

The Sunday Salon.com

Life: Happy Memorial Day weekend to all who celebrate the holiday.  Those of you who follow my blog weekly know this month and the first two weeks of June are a nightmare for me, and the worst will occur beginning on Friday.  Please think happy thoughts for me and my family.

Family Update: For my senior, school is almost over and then we have a flurry of senior activities, then uninvited out of town company arrives, then graduation.   My days are so packed thinking about them makes me want to dive under my duvet and stay there.  Sunday we attended the ceremony for those who have achieved high GPA while participating in sports, Monday night was my oldest son’s last concert and then there was a very long award ceremony, Tuesday was my 20th Wedding Anniversary, Wednesday was another banquet at school, Thursday evening twin 2 was inducted into the German Honour Society and Friday we were in charge of the Theatre Banquet preparations, which was a lot of fun!  Sadly, last week was tame compared to what awaits me and my family this week.

Saturday Night: We all crashed and watch DVDs.  It was our only free day in the near future.

Read and Reviewed: This past week I only read 7 books and reviewed 6 of them, as the 7th was not at all for me.  This week will be so packed with activities due to graduation and out of town guests I am hoping to get 3 books read.

Today I will be reading: The Silent Girl by Tess Gerritsen (sadly I never got to this book last Sunday)

Happy Reading and have a wonderful Sunday.

This Is My One Day…

out of the entire month where I have absolutely nothing that must be accomplished so my family and I are…

The Sunday Salon (TSS May 22, 2011)

Life: Last week I wrote about how crazy my life was and yes, I am extremely stressed.  I am very much looking forward to 6 June, which marks the point in which I shall have some free time and hopefully a lot less stress.

Family Update: School is almost over, the graduation festivities are well underway and soon the big day will be upon us.  In the meantime we have a lot of banquets, awards, and shows to attend in under two weeks.

Saturday Night: Actually the events of Saturday Night began Friday night.  This was the weekend of Xtreme Theatre, 24 hours of creativity culminating in several hours of entertainment, then clean up.  It was a blast and worth the lack of sleep.  There are a lot of talented students.

Read and Reviewed: This past week I reviewed only 7 books and I do not think this next week will even be that high.  It is truly nuts around here.

Today I will be reading: The Silent Girl by Tess Gerritsen

Happy Reading and have a wonderful Sunday.

Life: Is absolutely crazy right now and there is no sign of it letting up until the early part of June.  I shall try to continue posting daily, hopefully I will manage, currently I want to run away to a secluded island where absolutely no one knows me or wants anything from me.

Family Update: The guys are all well and we enjoyed watching twin #1 in a performance of The Odd Couple Friday evening.  DH has more tests on Monday and my stress levels are through the roof.  I want to crawl under the covers until June, sadly that is not possible.

Saturday Night: In a word was wonderful.  As a family we watched DVDs, laughed and lounged about, being very sluggish and I will not lie, it was a delightful diversion from this stressful time.

Read and Reviewed: This past week I reviewed 9 books and had 2 wonderful author guest post on my blog.

Today I will be reading: The Paper Garden by Molly Peacock

Happy Reading and have a wonderful Sunday.

The Sunday Salon Mother’s Day Edition

The Sunday Salon.com

Life: I would like to wish mother’s everywhere (for me, this also included those who are mum’s to furry babies as well) and wonderful day filled with love and relaxation.

Family Update: What was slated as the busiest month for me became even more hectic this past week owning to my husband’s health. I appreciate those who sent kind words.  The road my be a bit bumpy and I shall try to keep the blog moving at a decent clip, the small incident of food poisoning is not exactly helping me (never, ever say it cannot get worse, I did and wound up with food poisoning  Friday night-and no, I was not cooking.)

Saturday Night: It was closing night of the musical for twin 1, so he was gone, but the rest of us huddled around and enjoyed the fact we were home together  and re-watched the X-Men series.

Read and Reviewed: This past week I reviewed 7 books and spotlighted 3 books, due to a family issue out of my control.

Today I will be reading: A Drop of the Hard Stuff by Lawrence Block

Happy Reading and have a wonderful Sunday.

The Sunday Salon: May Day Edition (5/1)

The Sunday Salon.com

Life: Happy May Day!  I have been dreading the month of May, usually it is one of my favourites, but this year it is going to prove quite taxing and exceedingly busy.

Family Update: The Spring Musical opened last night and is off to a wonderful start and it is always nice to see the actors and crew members completed work.  The sets are stunning, although I may be biased.  My oldest is counting down the days he has left of High School, which are not many at all and twin 2 has been busy focusing on his schoolwork and looking forward to taking Physics this summer.  DH is busy as usual and as I have mentioned previously, this month is going to be stressful, busy, and an absolute nightmare.

Saturday Night: Twin 1 needed to be working the set, so it was just the four of us watching movies together.  We are quite fortunate to have a library so close to us with an extensive DVD selection.

Read and Reviewed: his past week I did read and review 7 books, gave up on 1 book and put up a trailer for a book coming out on the 1st of June (which sounds wonderful).

Today I will be reading: Wrecker by Summer Wood

Happy Reading and have a wonderful Sunday.

The Sunday Salon Easter Edition (TSS: 4/24/11)

The Sunday Salon.com

Life: Happy Easter!  Not only is it Easter, but also the last Sunday in April.  May everyone have a beautiful day.

Family Update: We have been having a delightfully relaxing holiday weekend.  May is an extremely hectic month for us, so we chose to make the transition from April to May a calm one filled with love, family fun, and silliness, beginning with the weekend.

Saturday Night: What else but family movie night!  We ordered Thai food and loaded up on DVDs from the library and had a delightful evening/night.

Read and Reviewed: I apologise, I only managed to get 6 books read and reviewed this week.  As I mentioned I made an executive decision to cease all work at 3PM Friday.  I made the right decision. :)

Today I will be reading: As it is Easter I shall be reading nothing.   Rather, I shall be enjoying this time with my husband and sons.

Happy Easter and Happy Reading!
