Hour 2: Read-A-Thon Challenge: Favourite Childhood Book

It is time for the first challenge in the Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-A-Thon. Elizabeth has asked read-a-thon participants to share their favourite childhood book(s).

My all time favourite book which I still will read, quote from, and read to all three of my boys (I still own my original 1960s era version) is A.A. Milne’s classic Winnie-the Pooh. As a child I loved the adventures of Christopher Robin and the occupants of the 100-acre wood. As an adult I see all of the wisdom and life lessons A.A. Milne passed on to countless children throughout the ages.  My deepest gratitude to A.A. Milne for his stories have taught me so very much and continue to this day.

Bloggiesta Ole! Begins

The three days of Bloggiesta Ole! begins today and ends on June 13th. Any type of blogger is welcome to participate.

Sign in here.
Follow @Bloggiesta on Twitter, and use the hashtag #bloggiesta to join the chatter.

I will use Twitter and write one follow-up post so I do not clutter up my blog or my readers feeds or in-box.

  • Clean up my side bars.
  • Clean up my blog.
  • Organise Goodreads and Library Thing
  • Organise my schedule and purchase a new planner.
  • I do not write posts in advance, only as I read the book, so hopefully I will be able to read more this weekend than usual (I can hope).
  • Visit more blogs, something I have not had much time for.
  • Enter contests. I rarely have time for such luxuries.

Completed Reading Into the New Year!

I joined with others to Reading Into The New Year hosted by Bookworming In the 21st Century. I was reading A Visit From Voltaire by Dinah Lee Kung when the New Year Arrived. I am still reading as I am also in the New Year Read-a-Thon. My family liked reading in the New Year and my one son even chose to read Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare.

I had meant to blog about this fantastic read-a-thon, apparently I only managed to place it in my sidebar. What is this read-a-thon you ask? It is the New Year Read-A-Thon which is being hosted by Bookworming In the 21st Century. The read-a-thon is open to all people, please have a look at this wonderful event: New Year Read-A-Thon.

Why a read-a-thon? To promote reading in the New Year! Bring on 2010!

Starts: 5 pm on Thursday, 31 December 2009
Ends: 10 pm on Sunday, 3 January 2010

I am hoping to catch up on some much needed reading. I hope many will join in the New Year Read-A-Thon.

You can read as little or as much as you want, include the family as well.
