Today’s question: Who’s your favorite author that other people are NOT reading? The one you want to evangelize for, the one you would run popularity campaigns for? The author that, so far as you’re concerned, everyone should be reading–but that nobody seems to have heard of. You know, not JK Rowling, not Jane Austen, not Hemingway–everybody’s heard of them. The author that you think should be that famous and can’t understand why they’re not…?

This is indeed and excellent question and has made me realise I cannot wait to learn of new authors I probably should be reading but have not.

I am ashamed to admit that I do not think I can answer this question, at least not well. I am well versed in the classics and the authors I have read up to date are usually rather well known. One of my all time favourite authors is P.G. Wodehouse, quite famous, yet I do not recall seeing any of his book titles or his name about. If you have not heard of P.G. Wodehouse, I highly recommend all of his novels.

Today’s questioned was suuggested by Prairie Progressive:

Do you read the inside flaps that describe a book before or while reading it?

This question I hope, means I am not alone. No, I do not read the inside flap nor do I read the back. I feel both give too much away and I want to experience the book for myself, rather than having some notion of what is going to unfold.

Booking Through Thursday, My First

Today’s question is two-fold.

First, What books did you get for Christmas (or whichever holiday you may have celebrated last month)?

I received 7 books, all from the same author (by request).

  • The Corinthian by Georgette Heyer
  • The Foundling by Georgette Heyer
  • Arabella by Georgette Heyer
  • Devel’s Cub by Georgette Heyer
  • Behold Here’s Poison by Georgette Heyer
  • Death In the Stocks by Georgette Heyer
  • They Found Him Dead by Georgette Heyer

Second, Do you usually ask for books on gift-giving occasions or do you prefer to buy them yourself?

Both actually. I have a list ready if someone asks me what I would like for my Birthday or Christmas.
