Welcome to Armchair BEA 2011 Day 1

Welcome to Rundpinne, my name is Jennifer and I am a book reviewer, book blogger, and an unapologetic bibliophile.  Normally my reading is laid back and at a nice even clip, however this week I have a school event, award ceremony or banquet scheduled every night of the week.  But enough about the stressed out me, normally I am fairly laid back, easy going and I do not write too much about myself.  I am a mum to 3 older teenagers, about to celebrate my 20th Wedding Anniversary (this week!) and I am owned by an extremely pampers cat.   As for books I am fairly eclectic in my reading.  My all time favourite genre is Russian Literature, sadly I do not get to review too much from the Russian Literature field.  I am quite fond of Scandinavian mysteries/police procedural, usually I am too impatient to wait for them to be translated.  When not reading Russian Literature or Scandinavian Mysteries I gravitate toward memoirs and historical fiction.

The second part of the welcome post was to be about how I plan to participate in Armchair BEA 2011 and what I hope to get out of the week.

When I first learned of Armchair BEA I felt I would be far less structured and go with the flow, that was until I looked at my calendar and received a dose of reality.  My only reading goals are to actually reads the books I promised to review this week, any extras are an added bonus.  Where will I be reading?  Anywhere I can.

What do I hope to get out of the week?  I am looking forward to meeting book bloggers and reviewers, to be exposed to new books, ideas, genres, and have an all around jolly good time.

To all of you stopping by for the first time, welcome to my little book review blog in the wide arena that is the blogosphere, for those of you who have been here before, I am so very glad you chose to stop by.  Welcome everyone, do have a look around and if there is time, please leave me a comment so I can come visit you.

An Unintentional Lie-It is Party Time!

Okay, I realise I said I as spending a long weekend with my guys, and I am, however, how could I miss Blog Hop ’09, hosted by Pensieve? I could not. After consulting with my family they agreed that while they do manly things, I shall be blog hopping!

I know there are many blogs to visit, prizes to be won and blogtalk shows to listen to, so I shall keep the Meet & Greet portion of my blog for the party short and sweet.

My name is Jennifer, I have been married for over 17 years to an extremely patient and wonderful man. We have 3 teenage sons, a couple of aquariums, a Bearded Dragon named Sheldon, and we are owned by a very pampered cat. I love food, especially white cake with pink frosting. I am an avid reader and knitter. I am addicted to coffee (French Pressed please), and a lover of all thing organic and fairly traded. My blog has been around for several years. It began purely as a knitting blog and slowly evolved to include basically anything and everything I felt compelled to write about. I have met some of the best bloggers (shout out to my Skype sisters!) and I am hoping I shall meet more fabulous bloggers through the Blog Hop! Please grab a beverage of choice, something to munch upon and enjoy my blog. I intend to do the same with all the other blogs. So excuse me while I brew a fresh pot of coffee and grab a slice of peach pie. Do not be shy, make yourselves at home and welcome. :)

An Awesome Blogging Buddy?

Tami from Diary of A Madwoman honoured me with this beautiful award:

Blogger Buddy Award

Thank you Tami!

I was honoured with the following amazing award from the wonderfully fabulous Mannequin from Fractured Toy and wonderfully fabulous Veronica Lee from Of Mice and Ramen

The rules state I am to list 7 things that make me Awe-summ and then I am to link back to the QUEEN(S) who tagged me.

Wow, seven things about me that are awesome? Seven? Seriously Seven? I asked my family for help (not the best idea, but here is what I have)

1) My youngest twin says I am caring and a miracle worker with stuffy noses. (any chance he has my personality?)
2) According to my oldest twin, I am awesome because I am his mom. (yes, he chose an easy out)
3) My first born mumbled that I am awesome because I am different. (I did not ask him to elaborate, I am going with it being a compliment, okay?)
4) My husband says I am awesome because I am dedicated to my family. (read patient)
5) I am an excellent at multitasking.
6) I am extremely loyal.
7) I am only as awesome as the people I call my friends. (and my friends are extremely awesome!)

I am supposed to pass this award on to seven bloggers that need a little bling and hug, because they’re awesome. I cannot choose 7. If you are one of my readers, consider yourself tagged. As each and every one of you are Awe-summ!

I Know

I know having a stroke and suffering from it daily makes me stronger. I would have preferred not to have had one major and several minor ones, yet that is what was meant to be.
I know I have met some of the most generous woman and men in the blogosphere (you know who you are). I treasure each and everyone of you.
I know that I have enough drama in my life that I do not need to create or seek it out. Why do so many seem to thrive on it, crave it?
I know that for all the wonderful people I have encountered there is also a lot of meanness. Why? Is it a balance, Yin and Yang?
I know that I have made some friends for life! They are there when I need them. I am there when they need me or just because. We pray for each other, cry together and laugh together. It makes the pettiness I see (and there is so much of it)even out.
I know there is a lot of greed (I see several times a day) yet it does not mean I need to be greedy.
I know I see a lot of charity and it makes me even more charitable!
I know that some people never grow up, sadly I know this far too well and it is a bit too close to home.
I know the blogosphere is a wonderful place and I am humbled at the vastness of it.
I know I am proud to be a blogger. I am not the best logger, nor the most popular, yet I enjoy it and meeting new people.
I know that I am happy to have found a balance in my life, it has not been easy, yet it has been worth it.
I know that I am grateful for the vast diversity of the blogs, for diversity keeps life just that more interesting.
I know that I am grateful for the blogosphere.
Thank you to all bloggers!
