I Am Back, Sort of…

As I sit reflecting about what to write the first thing to come to mind is the fact I have not blogged a single word in almost 10 months.   While 10 months may sound like a long time, it has gone by in the blink of an eye; to me it seems as only yesterday I suspended my blog for medical reasons.  Many things have happened over these past months, but one thing has remained constant, my passion for books.  Admittedly I have not missed the stress of trying to get reviews posted by a deadline; this forced break has shown me just how much I missed reading for the sake of reading.

I have kept a running list of everything I have read over these past 10 months and the books I read have been quite diverse and may be found under the “books read” tabs.  Some of the books I did choose to review, albeit briefly, on LibraryThing and Goodreads, but mostly I have read for the pure enjoyment of reading.  As I type this I have not formed a plan in my mind as to what exactly my next steps may be for this blog or myself.  Most likely I shall begin to sporadically post reviews, however, I do not envision posting near the volume I have in the past, especially not at first, after all I am rather rusty at blogging.

These past few months have taught me that time away from the computer is a very good thing.  This year my babies are graduating and I honestly do not plan to miss a moment I have with my guys.  All too soon my house will be empty and quite possibly this blog will help fill some void I will have when the time comes.  In the meantime if I am not posting reviews, know I am around and when I am not reading, I am enjoying time with my family.  After all, life is precious and time goes by far too quickly.

  1. Hi!

Welcome back to the book blogging world. I hope you are doing much better. I’m looking forward to reading your upcoming reviews.

  2. It’s nice to see you back. I hope your health has improved some.

  3. Jennifer, it is so nice to hear from you! Yes, by all means enjoy the time you have with your family! I can attest that time goes by too quickly. I treasure the time when all the kids are able to get together! Happy reading. I will follow you on GoodReads and LibraryThing to keep up with what you are reading! Hope to see you around the blog now and again!

  4. Welcome back! I hope you are feeling much better and I’m glad you’ve decided to blog again even if it is occasionally.

I’ve enjoyed reading your reviews on Goodreads and look forward to your blog posts.

  5. So glad that you are in better shape healthwise. It is good to hear from you once in a while. So very glad that you had time with your family and just plain enjoying reading.

  6. Jennifer, sometimes the best thing you can do is to step away from something for awhile. It helps you regain perspective and clarity. I’m glad you rediscovered your love of reading. We miss you, but whatever you choose to do in the future – I fully support your decision!

    Take care,
    Nicole

  7. Good for you, enjoy the time. I had just found your blog a few weeks before you stopped so I was sad to see you go but more than understand and applaud you for stepping back. How can I find you on Groodreads?

  8. I was thrilled to see your email in my inbox this morning, Jennifer! I’ve missed your insightful reviews – and you.

I always wondered how you could write so many reviews and am not surprised you burned out a little. Taking it easier this time is a wise move, I think.

    Again – glad you’re back!

    • Thanks Debbie! No sooner had I posted I was back and we lost power due to excessive heat and a storm. After almost four days, I am finally able to get back online and at the same time cool the house down.

  9. Welcome back! It is good to hear from you, and I hope you’re feeling better.

The last line of your post is very true.

  10. So so glad to have you back! I’d think about you occasionally and wonder how you were doing. I’m glad I don’t have to wonder anymore! :)
