Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
“If he leans into the scrap-metal wall of his shack, he can make out some of the headlines of the old newspapers he stuffed into the cracks to keep out the winter draft. But he has given up reading, gave that up some time ago; it just reminds him of all he has lost.”

Here’s my teaser(s)!
I thought so as well, it made me want to know what happened.
That’s a sad teaser…I don’t think I could ever give up on reading
Me either, so he must have a very intriguing reason as to why.
How very sad! Here is my teaser from the humorous memoir, The Egg and I. Also, check out my book giveaway here.
I thought it was as well, especially since he was so resigned to never reading again.
Wow that was sad. I’d hate to have to give up reading
You can see my teaser choices at The Bookish Snob Happy reading!
It makes one wonder what would make someone choose to stop.
Ooooh. I like the cover, and the teaser made me quite curious. It sounds like an excellently written book, althoguh I haven’t heard of it before. Great teaser.
Take a look at my Teaser!
It is a new title to me as well as what little I have read has captured my attention.
Great teaser.
Thank you, when I read those lines I knew I had stumbled across my teaser.
How sad to give up reading for that reason.
Here’s my teaser for this week.
I think his life has a lot of sadness in it.
Oh no. Don’t give up reading.
I am hoping he will resume reading later on in the book.
Oh, this one is sad…giving up reading because of the reminders….
I’m curious about this one, now. Thanks for sharing.
Here’s MY TT POST
I too want to know what happened to make him give up and be resigned never to read again.
Hmm. Now that makes you think.
My teaser this week is from ‘Murder on the Down Low’ by Pamela Samuels Young.
It made me think. I liked Murder on the Down Low great choice.
Awe that kind of seems sad but interesting. Hope it’s a good one.

I am going to begin the book again today as once I start it I will not want to stop, last time I had to stop.
that’s a bit of a sad one, today!
It is, but I thought it offered a lot to think about.
Now that’s powerful writing.
Up until that point (which is all I read at the time) it was very powerful writing.
So sad! Hope he pulls out of it.
Here are my two teases: The Beloved Dead
I am waiting to find out why and yet rooting for him to read again.
Oh, I couldn’t imagine giving up reading for any reason. Great teaser, Jennifer! The Frog Prince
Me either, so I fancy he had some very compelling reasons.
I have this book, but no cover, so it’s nice to see the finished one.
It is quite haunting and yet beautiful.
Interesting teaser. I hope that you are enjoying your book. Check out my Teaser for Tuesday.
I am indeed, thank you.

It does, I cannot wait to learn more.
Is this a good book?
Thus far, yes.
His home sounds so bleak …bare tin with newspapers stuffed in to keep it warmer. I love reading old papers, but he sounds pitiful!
I am not too far yet, but I fancy his life has been a rather sad one.
Great teaser – and I love the cover of the book too!
Here’s my TT:

Sounds like our characters are in similar surroundings actually, lol.
Mine is located in Vietnam.
What a sad teaser. There’s a lot of loneliness in those 2 little sentences, isn’t there? Thanks for stopping by today.
There really is and I look forward to learning the rest of the story.
Beautiful. Just beautiful!
I cannot wait to see how it ends.
I hope it never comes to that for me – things so bad that even reading isn’t enjoyable. I’ve been thinking about reading this book, but I might find it just too sad.
My review will be up this week, check back.
I’ve gone some time between reading, but I can’t see myself giving it up completely. If nothing else, there are books on tape.
Oh I cannot either, but this is another place and time and I think his story will be a sad one, hopefully with a happy ending.
wow, that is sad.
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. I’m now a follower.
It truly is.
I can’t imagine not reading, but I’m sure he has his reasons. I’ll have to check this one out. Thanks for stopping by.
I cannot either and yes, he does.
Great teaser! I pray I never give up on reading!
It does sound like a dreadful thing to give up on.
I love the cover of this book. It’s beautiful! This looks like an intense read, I hope you enjoy!
I am enjoying the book and my review will be up this week.

Thanks for stopping by.
I’ve always loved the idea of newspapers used as insulation, wallpaper, etc — as far as the sense of accidentally preserved history goes.

That is a very keen observation.
What a sad teaser…gets me thinking what could have been so awful in this person’s life that they no longer read….nice cover too! Thanks for stopping by TT!
Hopefully things turn out better for him.
The thought of giving up reading depresses me to no end. :/
Thanks for stopping by my TT, though. :3
Yes it is a sad thing indeed, yet I do believe in this instance he has his reasons.
Such a sad teaser! I wonder what’s happening.
It is very sad.
I’m with everyone else. That is really sad.
I agree, yet it is the why that intrigued me.

The book is so beautiful. My review will be live in a few hours.
Awwwww, how sad — to get to a point when you don’t even want to read anymore! I certainly hope things get better for him soon.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!!
A sad teaser no doubt, but an amasing book.
Hmm, really interesting teaser! I’m interested how the character got to this point.
The book is truly beautiful.
Oh, he sounds so lonely. I just finished a fluffy book–romance, weddings, and sweet things.
Old Man Hung has lived an extraordinary life and the book is so beautiful.
The teaser sounds interesting. The book cover looks great. I think I might add this book in my wishlist. кєяo’s Book Blog

It is difficult to explain the complex beauty of this book, but I did give it a go in my review which is now up.
Such a sad teaser.
True, but an exceptionally beautiful book.
Very thought-provoking statement. Wow. It gives you such a somber feeling, makes you wonder WHY. You’ve intrigued me–and I’m glad I intrigued you as well
It was an absolutely beautiful book.
