Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
“Every week there were more words because the inhabitants–collectively–were fluent in forty-seven languages and dialects besides German. And it was why they’d been spared the camps and could be in this shell–fighting, scribbling, clawing, to carry out a mysterious and Byzantine mission.”

That sounds interesting. It’s a good teaser! Both descriptive and giving absolutely nothing to work with at the same time. Brilliant!

It is from WWII, an alternative for some prisoners instead of the camps.

Very intriguing teaser. I don’t normally get into WWII or Nazi stuff, but this is interesting.
It is a deeply philosophical book with a lot of historical fiction, well researched and laid out.

At the point in the book where I took my teaser from the collective group of select prisoners spoke that many languages.
Great teaser!!
Thank you, it is a wonderful book.
German tends to have these incredibly long sentences that run on forever but it’s perfection for being able to stating a particular moment with a simple word.
Just finished your review and will add it on to TBR list. A very different perspective on the notions of war.
Oh I am pleased, I hope you enjoy the book.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Buffy-It is a spectacular book, just go into it knowing it is not an easy read and I recommend not reading it in one sitting. It is very philosophical, at times deep, and very emotionally charged. With that said, I think it is a must-read book. I would have loved to have been able to discuss it with others.
Interesting Teaser!
Thanks. It was a brilliant book.
I’m a little late (!) but didn’t want to miss your teaser. It’s great & intriguing. It’s also from a book I’m very interested in and hope you’re enjoying!
