Ramblings From A Migraine Addled Mind

My ramblings in no particular order, rather this is more of a free thought journal post. A scary thought, I know.

I am not an April Fool’s Day fan. I truly dislike it and have never found the gags to be amusing.

Why do spring colds feel so much more dreadful than winter colds?

Will I ever learn to stop worrying about things I have no control over? If you are reading this and still have young children, trust me when I say, the worrying has not even begun.

In an ideal world, I should be able to tweet the University my son dearly wants to attend, and they would let him, and of course tuition would also magically be taken care of (I did say in an ideal world). His goals are modest, he truly loves a particular campus, I do not know why, but his heart has been set and I *hope* they choose him when the time comes. It will be a long wait. Le Sigh.

Why in the winter do I think the house is cold at 68 degrees and now I think the house is too warm for any comfort?

I counted the books on my TBR piles (yes piles) and decided I am in desperate need of book shelves.

Deciding what advise to impart upon my son about college is trickier than I first thought. I want him to hear me, rather than me sounding like the adult voices on Charlie Brown.

Apparently spring lasted a week and now we are into summer weather, which is not too dreadful considering the humidity is not yet suffocating high, however, upon inspection of my wardrobe it is indeed clear that I lack summer clothing. I suppose I can always crank the A/C and wear sweaters about, my how the neighbours would talk.

Time to decide if I want to take cold medicine or something for my head. I do lead an exciting life.

Booking Through Thursday – Learning to Read

Do you remember learning to read? What’s your earliest reading memory?

Sadly I do not recall learning to read I just recall doing it as easily as one draws breath. I know I was reading quite well by the time I was three. My earliest memory, or the one that stands out the clearest was being taken to the Public Library when I was not yet in school. I recall enjoying being in the library and wishing I had a library card. So while I do not retain the memory of first learning to read, some of my fondest moments as a child where at libraries.

Anyone can play along each Thursday with Booking Through Thursday.

My Review:

Amelia Grey’s third novel in The Rogues’ Dynasty series, An Earl To Enchant, will capture the reader’s attention from the beginning words of Lady Elder’s letter to her grandson Lucas to the very end of the novel. An Earl To Enchant is brilliantly written, with delightful characters, descriptive prose, witty dialogue, with just the right touch of mystery and romance intertwined. Lucas Randolph Morgandale, the ninth Earl of Morgandale is at his country home, Valleydale, trying to escape from his cousins’ machinations at trying to marry him off. Lacking anything to do, the Earl goes through his solicitor to have a courtesan sent to Valleydale. When Arianna Sweet appears at his door, the Earl is convinced she is the courtesan, yet she thinks he an ogre. Morgan quickly realises his mistake and inquires why she would be at his home. Arianna had been living in India with her father who was working with The Royal Apothecary Scientific Academy when he died. Arianna was told she was to go to Lady Elder at Valleydale should anything happen to him, so she followed his wishes, but she could not have known Lady Elder had passed away. Still recovering from a fever Arianna caught upon the ship, Morgan has her and her lady’s maid, Beabe stay with them while he finds a suitable companion for her, and the person who comes to mind is Mrs. Constance Pepperfield. Constance will help Arianna set up a home in London, find a suitable companion, help her re-enter the London scene and find Mr. Warburton, who Arianna needs to see desperately, for Arianna has a secret only Beabe knows and it could cost all of them quite a lot. An Earl To Enchant is a novel that will definitely enchant the reader. The characters are charming, witty, and intelligent and one cannot help but want to know what is going to happen next. Grey weaves in Arianna’s secret and adds a twist with Gibby, Sir Randolf Gibson, who will appear in her future Rogues’ Dynasty series. An absolute delight to read, An Earl To Enchant is a novel readers will greatly enjoy.

The author, Amelia Grey, will be guest blogging here on the release date of this novel, so please stop back on April 6, 2010 to read what Amelia has to write about.

I received a complimentary copy of An Earl To Enchant by Amelia Grey from Sourcebooks. Receiving a complimentary copy in no way reflected my review of aforementioned novel.
